Colossians 1:9 That is why we keep on talking to God about you since the day we heard about you. We ask him that you may know everything he wants you to do. We ask him that you may be very wise and that the Spirit will help you to understand.

10 We ask him that you will live the way the Lord wants you to live, so that you will please him in everything you do. We ask that you will do everything that is good. We ask that you will see the fruit from what you do. We ask that you will know more and more about God.

11 God has wonderful power. And we ask him to give you all the strength you need to go through all your troubles,to be very patient in them, and to be happy.

12 Thank the Father who has made us ready to be with the people of God who live in his light.

DAY 2—One of the grand words of the Resurrection is defined for us by the Greek word dúnamis.

In Paul’s writing he used the word dúnamis to describe the power that brought the Lord Jesus forth from the grave. While this word is generally translated power, it comes from a word that means, to be able. Because of this, we may interpret it as enabling power. See what this will mean in some verses taken from the Gospel of Matthew, each of which has the word dúnamis in it.

Matthew 10:1—And when He had called unto Him His twelve disciples, He gave them power (dúnamis, enabling power) against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

No unclean spirit could withstand an order coming from Jesus when they were commanded to depart. Of course, when the disciples did this, they had to do it all in the Name of the Lord Jesus. There would be no sickness or disease able to remain when the appointed, and anointed, disciples of Jesus ministered healing to the suffering and afflicted.

Before the Lord Jesus returned to His Father in Heaven, He charged those same disciples with a commission they were to pass on to others as it reaches all the way to us.

Matthew 28:18-20—And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power (exousía, authority) is given (has been given) unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you, even unto the end of the world (... the consummation of the age). Amen. Nowhere in Scripture is there a withdrawal of this powerful commission.

FATHER, please let my heart hear and understand the commission You are laying on my life. If some of it has an element of difficulty, or even impossibility, teach me to train the eyes of my heart on You. Please help me grow up to be a son, or daughter, that can face difficulty without murmuring or turning back. Teach me not to fear the hard things of life but to bring my heart and soul into a closer communion with You.
