Colossians 1:9 That is why we keep on talking to God about you since the day we heard about you. We ask him that you may know everything he wants you to do. We ask him that you may be very wise and that the Spirit will help you to understand.
10 We ask him that you will live the way the Lord wants you to live, so that you will please him in everything you do. We ask that you will do everything that is good. We ask that you will see the fruit from what you do. We ask that you will know more and more about God.
11 God has wonderful power. And we ask him to give you all the strength you need to go through all your troubles,to be very patient in them, and to be happy.
12 Thank the Father who has made us ready to be with the people of God who live in his light.
Day 20—Paul had deep desire that the people would know the mystery of Christ. |
Paul was concerned that the people know how much he cared for them. It was not to build up his own ego, but that they might know the value placed on them because of the suffering of the Lord Jesus. Let us see the opening words of this second chapter in his Letter to the Colossians 2:1-3—
For I would that ye knew (for I desire for you to know in a way that can’t be taken from you) what great conflict (what earnest care, or solicitude) I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; that their hearts might be comforted (encouraged), being knit together (having been united) in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
FATHER, I praise You that the mystery revealed in Christ Jesus has reached my own heart. My desire is that He might be revealed in me. And, let Him be known in the fellowship to which I belong. Please let the new ones who come among us become aware of Him. As we move among the people of the world, please let Him become known to them.
