Ephesians 1:
| |||
In Ephesians 6:12 Paul told of four levels of satanic evil with which we must contend. See this: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Look at this verse carefully. This is Satan’s hierarchy of evil with which we must wrestle. This wrestling has two parts. First we’re learning to overthrow the powers of evil in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then, we’re learning to maintain our hold against them as we focus on Him. Paul spoke of this in Philippians 3:14. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. The word mark in this verse comes from the Greek word sko’pos. It’s the word from which our word “scope” comes. We will ask the Lord to help us set our “scope” on Jesus, and then to keep our eye focused on Him. Romans 1:21,22—Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. The Simplicity of Godly Wisdom—II Corinthians 1:12; 10:1
