Utterly
Believing God
...as We Move forward
in the
Prayers Jesus Taught Us to Pray
As we move through some days in prayer, we will draw upon what we are learning from the Lord Jesus about importunity in praying.
But we wont say any more about this. We will simply take the remainder
of the seven points that He included as He gave us the manner in which we
are to pray.
DAY 1When
the call for Gods will leads us to impossibility, we discover
that His grace stands ready to perform His will for us, and in us.
uMatthew 6:10Let Your will come into beingnow, in this
present moment on earth, as it already is in heaven. Corley
from Greek text
uPhilippians 2:13For
it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.
uPsalm 68:28Thy God hath commanded thy strength: strengthen,
O God, that which Thou hast wrought for us. (Your God has constituted your strength. Oh God, You
performed this for us.)
eFATHER,
what You have called me to do is beyond what I can do. My understanding,
my strength of will, my strength of body and of my emotions are failing
me. Oh, but I am discovering Your enabling grace! As I wait before You,
I turn all I am over to You. I am becoming ready for You to perform
Your work.
&David faced down Goliath,
knowing that the battle was the Lords.
I Samuel 17:38-49
DAY 2No child of God need ever hold any fear over his, or
her, ability to do Gods will.
uIsaiah 41:10So do not be afraid.
I am with you. Do not be terrified. I am your God. I will make you strong
and help you. My powerful right hand will take good care of you. I always
do what is right.NIRV®
uPsalm 37:23,24The
steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in His
way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD
upholdeth him with His hand.
eFATHER,
I rejoice in Your calling. Thank You for placing Your trust in me. But,
when I think on the details of the task, I tremble. Oh, I know I must
think on You and Your power! Please draw my heart into Your bosom. Teach
me to wait on You. Teach me to open myself to You.
&Obedience to His will
is the best sacrifice we can make unto the Lord.
Psalm 40:1-17
DAY 3If
we come into trouble when we have given ourselves over to Gods
will, He will deliver us by the power of His right hand.
uPsalm 138:7,8Though I walk in the midst of trouble, Thou
wilt revive me: Thou shalt stretch forth Thine hand against the wrath
of mine enemies, and Thy right hand shall save me. The LORD will perfect
that which concerneth me: Thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake
not the works of Thine Own hands.
uPsalm 57:2I will cry unto God most high; unto God that
performeth all things for me.
uIsaiah 46:4I will continue to carry you even when you are
old. I will take good care of
you even when your hair is gray. I
have made you. And I will carry you. I will take care of you. And I will save you. I am the Lord.NIRV®
eLORD, we have been through many
trials together. How faithful
You are! But I still need to learn that You will take me through what
I face today, and tomorrow. As I wait before You, I turn my pain over
to You. I turn my doubt over to You. Just consume it all!
&Because of the Lord
Jesus, we dont have to be troubled when we face Gods will.John 14:1-14
Sometimes our greatest fear is that we will not have enough
provision for the days that lie ahead. Jesus knew we would face times
like this. Thats the reason He has taught us to pray that we would
have our daily
bread. Oh,
what faith will grow within us as we see His continuing faithfulness!
DAY 4One
of the greatest lessons for us to learn is that God will provide for
us, even in the wilderness like He did with Moses.
uExodus 16:15And when the children of Israel saw it, they
said one to another, It is manna (What is that?): for they wist (knew) not what it was.
And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given
you to eat.
uPsalm 104:24O
LORD, how manifold are Thy works! in wisdom hast Thou made them all:
the earth is full of Thy riches.
uPhilippians 4:19But
my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by
Christ Jesus.
eGRACIOUS LORD,
we are coming to the place where there seems to be nothing secure for
our future. I am prone to worry that my family may have nothing to eat,
nor a place to live. But, let me stop this worrying! We have Your faithfulness!
We have Your Word! We have the promise of Your provision! We shall come
through this with a testimony of Your greatness.
&The Lord will provide
for those who care for the poor.
Psalm 41:1-3
DAY 5Jesus
taught His disciples to put the Kingdom of Heaven first. Then, all else
will fall into place.
uPsalm 37:3Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou
dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed (feed
on His faithfulness).
uMatthew 6:26Behold
the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather
into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better
than they?
uMatthew 6:33But
seek ye first the Kingdom of God (make the Kingdom of God the sole object of
your search), and
His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
eDEAR LORD,
our whole desire is beginning to turn toward Your Kingdom. As we look
to You, make us to be mature sons and daughters in Your Kingdom. Teach
us how to be givers of its wealth to others.
&We are learning to put
away anxiety, to live honorably and to give abundantly.
Matthew 6:24-34
DAY 6When famine hits the land, the Lord God will
be our abiding hope.
uMatthew 4:4When Jesus was tempted by the devil, He said to him, Man
shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out
of the mouth of God.
uPsalm 33:18-20Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that
fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy; to deliver their soul from
death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waiteth for the LORD:
He is our help and our shield.
eLOVING FATHER, as hard times come upon us, train us to keep our hearts fixed on You.
Help us learn by the troubles we now have that You are faithful in the
smallest difficulty. Teach us to always look out for our neighbors and
to give, not expecting anything in return. Teach us
that we care for others, You will care for us.
&God will shower all
kinds of blessings, if we learn to be givers.
II Corinthians 9:6-8
The matter of receiving forgiveness depends on first extending
forgiveness to others. Forgiving others helps prepare our souls to receive
the mercy that the Lord stands ready to give us. His mercy is everlasting.
It extends to all generations. In the following section of The Lords
Prayer, sin is represented under the notion of a debt.Adam Clarke
DAY 7It
is only as we have forgiven others that we are able to receive the mercy
of the forgiveness that God offers us.
uMatthew 6:12And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive (as we have forgiven) our debtors.
uMatthew 6:14,15For if ye forgive
men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: but
if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive
your trespasses.
uMatthew 6:14,15Forgive people when they sin
against you. If you do, your Father who is in heaven will also forgive
you. But if you do not forgive people their sins, your Father will not
forgive your sins. NIRV®
eFATHER, I still have need of forgiveness. But I am convicted that there are
yet some people I have not forgiven. Please give me the grace to work
toward the restoration of fellowship with them. They have done wrong
to me, but not nearly as much I have done wrong toward You. With Your
grace, I am ready to get these matters settled.
&The Lord expects us to have compassion on others even as He has had compassion
on us.Matthew
18:23-35
DAY 8One
of the marks of a forgiven person is that he has become merciful toward
others.
uEphesians 4:32And be ye kind one to another,
tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christs
sake hath forgiven you.
uRomans
12:19,20aMy friends, dont
try to get even. Leave room for God to show his anger. It is written,
I am the One who judges people. I will pay them back, (Deut 32:35)
says the Lord. Do just the opposite. Scripture says, If your enemies are hungry, give them
food to eat. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink.NIRV®
eDEAR LORD, I am learning that the joy and peace of forgiving others is far better
than holding resentment. Oh, please move through and make me into a
person who quickly forgives others. Let the grace of Your Kingdom move
freely through me to others.
&Often, the one who has
been forgiven the most loves the most.
Luke 7:40-48
DAY 9It
takes a work of faith to forgive others. The Lord will give us this
faith.
uLuke 6:36,37Be ye therefore merciful,
as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged:
condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be
forgiven...
uLuke 17:3-5Be on your guard. If
your brother acts wrongly, reprove him; and if he is sorry, forgive
him; and if seven times in a day he acts wrongly
towards you, and seven times turns again to you and says, I am
sorry, you must forgive him. And the Apostles said to the Lord, Give us faith.Weymouth
uLuke 17:3-5Blessed are the merciful:
for they shall obtain mercy.
eFATHER,
my need for Your mercy continues. Thank You for all You have done for
me that I really have not deserved. My cry today is for You to help
me become a more merciful person.
&We are to put on tender
mercy and kindness as if they were our clothes.Colossians 3:13-17
Sometimes we dwell under the dark
cloud of satanic trouble for a long time before coming to the realization
that there has been a design upon us, put there by the devil to bring
us down. Our plea is that the Lord will deliver us from evil. In this,
we need that operation of the Holy Spirit called the discerning
of spirits. When we discern what is happening, we can command
the intruding spirits to go in Jesus Name.
DAY 10Out
of the power of Heavens Kingdom we find the grace to endure trials.
uMatthew 6:13And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and
the glory, forever. Amen.
uMatthew 6:13And, lead us not into
trials which we have not the grace to bear, but rescue us from
the evil one. Because the Kingdom is Yours, and the Power, and the Glory
unto (the end of) the ages.Corley
uI Corinthians 10:13There hath no temptation (trial) taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will
not suffer (allow) you to be tempted (tried) above that ye are able; but will
with the temptation (trial) also make a way to escape, that ye may be able
to bear it.
eFATHER,
trials seem to be my way of life. Please give me the grace to endure
them. Help me learn from whatever comes. I will receive the tests as
from Your loving hand, not as from the hand of the enemy. Please sanctify
whatever the trial may be that comes my way.
&Trials will work in
a child of God to produce an enduring faith.
Hebrews 11:1-7
DAY 11Paul
discovered the amazing power of Gods grace when it came to him
in his pain.
uII Corinthians 12:7-9I could have become
proud of myself because of the amazing and wonderful things God has
shown me. So I was given a problem that caused pain in my body. It is
a messenger from Satan to make me suffer. Three times I begged the Lord
to take it away from me. But He said to me, My grace is all you
need. My power is strongest when you are weak. So I am very happy
to brag about how weak I am. Then Christs power can rest on me.NIRV®
uIsaiah 40:29-31He giveth power to the faint;
and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths
shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew
their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall
run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
eDEAR LORD, I am too weak to go through all that I am now facing. So, I am a candidate
for the same thing Paul discovered. I am ready and open for what you
revealed through Isaiah. I wait before You for Your grace that strengthens.
&At the Word of the
Lord we can be made strong.
Daniel 10:16-19; Daniel 11:32b
DAY 12By
faith the weakest people may become strong.
uHebrews 11:32-3532What more can I say? I dont
have time to tell about all the others. I dont have time to talk
about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah. I dont have time to
tell about David, Samuel and the prophets. 33Because of their faith they took over kingdoms. They ruled fairly. They
received the blessings God had promised. They shut the mouths of lions. 34They put out great fires. They escaped
being killed by the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They
became powerful in battle. They beat back armies from other countries.
35Women received their dead back. The dead were raised
to life again. Others were made to suffer greatly. But they refused
to be set free. They did that so that after death they would be raised
to a better life.NIRV®
eGREAT
REDEEMER, I rejoice in the grace You are bringing into my life.
Just as I am rising up in obedience to You, I am discovering new strength.
Provision is coming when there was no source I could see in anywhere
I might look. My life is becoming a miracle, just because of Your mercy.
I know its mercy, because I havent earned any merit for
anything You are doing for me. Oh, I praise You! I praise You!.
& Abraham obeyed God
and discovered the power of faith.Hebrews 11:8-12
DAY 13Abraham
found the secret of listening to God and obeying Him. Thus, he became
the spiritual father of all them who believe the Lord.
uGenesis 12:1,4The LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of
thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy fathers house,
unto a land that I will show thee... So Abram departed, as the LORD
had spoken unto him...
uGenesis 12:7And the LORD appeared unto
Abram (before he was called Abraham),
and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he
an altar unto the LORD8band
called upon the Name of the LORD.
uRomans 4:3bGod accepted Abrahams faith, and
so his faith made him right with God.NIrV®
eLORD,
help me, like Abraham, to hear Your voice. Teach me the powerful secret
that different ones through the ages have known. I believe this is necessary
for us who face the days that are coming. Teach my family to hear You,
to believe You, and to obey You even when sometimes we dont
fully understand what You are doing with us.
&The Covenant God made
with Abraham embraced the Son of God
and reaches to all the families of the earth.
