TONGUES SERIES The
Holy Spirit makes us
DAY 1—The Holy Spirit is the Comforter who abides with us. Jn 14:16,l7 And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another
Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever: even the Spirit of truth;
whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth
Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (Comforter, from Gr. parákletos. One called alongside to be an encourager, helper, and advocate, thus the Paraclete, whose influence and operation were to compensate for the departure of the Lord Jesus Himself.) DAY 2—The Holy Spirit is our Teacher regarding all things. Jn 14:26a But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, Whom the
Father will send in My Name He shall teach you all things... I Cor
2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom
teacheth, but which the Holy Spirit teacheth; comparing spiritual things
with spiritual. DAY 3—The Holy Spirit is a Reminder to us of what the Lord Jesus said. Jn 14:26b (He shall) bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever
I have said unto you. Jn 2:22 When therefore He was risen from
the dead. His disciples remembered that He had said this unto them: and
they believed the Scripture, and the Word which Jesus had said. Jn 15:26,27 But when the Comforter is come Whom I will send
unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from
the Father, He shall testify of Me: and ye also shall bear witness, because
ye have been with Me from the beginning. Ac 5:32 And we are His
witnesses of these things: and so is also the Holy Spirit. Whom God hath
given to them that obey Him.
DAY 5—The Holy Spirit is the One Who Brings Conviction in the world regarding sin, righteousness and judgment. Jn 16:7,8 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient
for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come
unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you. And when He is come.
He will reprove ("convict") the world of sin, and of righteousness,
and of judgment.
DAY 6—The Holy Spirit is our Guide to bring us into all truth, even the deep things of God. Jn 16:12,13a I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye
cannot bear them now. Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He
will guide you into all truth... Ps 32:7,8 Thou art my hiding place;
Thou shalt preserve me from trouble; Thou shalt compass me about with
songs of deliverance, Selah. I will instruct thee and teach thee in the
way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with Mine eye... The Lord Jesus and the Apostles warned
against deception DAY 7—The Holy Spirit is One Who Speaks What He Has Heard from God. Jn 16:13b ... for He shall not speak of Himself (of from
Gr. ápo, meaning "forth from"); but whatsoever He shall
hear, that shall He speak... (The same was true of Jesus) Jn 14:24b
…and the Word which ye hear is not Mine, but the Father’s which sent
Me.
DAY 8—The Holy Spirit is the True One Who Will Reveal Things to Come. Jn 16:13c ... and He will show you things to come. Mt 24:36
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven,
but My Father only. Mt 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither
the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
DAY 9—The Holy Spirit is One Who Will Glorify the Lord Jesus. Jn 16:14 He shall glorify Me: for He shall receive of Mine,
and shall show it unto you. Jn 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and
lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify
Thy Son, that Thy Son also may glorify Thee.
Rom 8:3,4 For what the Law could not do in that it was weak
through the flesh, God sending His Own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh,
and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: that the righteousness of the
Law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after
the Spirit. DAY 11—The Holy Spirit gives us life and peace. Rom 8:5,6 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things
of the flesh: but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded (having
a mind under control of the Spirit) is life and peace.
Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from
the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also
quicken ("bring life to") your mortal bodies by His Spirit that
dwelleth in you. Eph 2:4,5 But God, Who is rich in mercy, for His
great love wherewith He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath
quickened us ("made us alive") together with Christ (by grace ye
are saved).
Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if
ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Col 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth;
fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and
covetousness, which is idolatry.
Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit,
that we are the children of God (that is, born into God’s family).
I Jn 3:19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure
our hearts before Him.
Rom 8:26a Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities:
for we know not what we should pray for as we ought... Mk 9:24 And
straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord.
I believe: help Thou mine unbelief.
Rom 8:26b,27b .. .for we know not what we should pray for as
we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings
which cannot be uttered. ... He maketh intercession for the saints
according to the will of God.
Rom 8:27a And He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the
mind of the Spirit... Ps 139:23,24 Search me, 0 God, and know my
heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way
in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Gal 5:22a But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy. Rom
5:5b . . .the LOVE of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy
Ghost which is given unto us. Ac 13:52 And the disciples were filled
with JOY, and with the Holy Spirit. Jn 14:27 PEACE I leave with
you, my peace I give unto you...
Gal 5:22a But the fruit of the Spirit is ... longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness... Col 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect
of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind,
meekness. LONGSUFFERING: II Sam 22:36 Thou hast also given me the
shield of thy salvation: and thy GENTLENESS hath made me great. Eph
5:9a For the fruit of the Spirit is in all GOODNESS...
Gal 5:22a But the fruit of the Spirit is ... faith... (better
"faithfulness") Ps 92:1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the
LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: to show forth thy
loving-kindness in the morning, and thy FAITHFULNESS every night. Rev
2:l0b ...Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown
of life.
Gal 5:22a,23a But the fruit of the Spirit is . . .meekness.
Mt 5:5 Blessed are THE MEEK: for they shall inherit the earth.
Mt 11:29 Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me: for I am meek
and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. The most powerful promises are given to the meek—Ps 25:9; Ps 37:11; Ps 149:4; Mt 5:5
Gal 5:22a,23b But the fruit of the Spirit is temperance ("self-control")...
II Pet. 1:5,6 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith
virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge TEMPERANCE; and to temperance
patience ("steadfast endurance"); and to patience godliness... God’s divine power will give us all things
necessary to make us useful in His Kingdom
