Our Cry for the Mercy of
Christ’s Kingdom

THIS MONTH we consider the mercy with which the Lord our God desires to visit us. There is no dark or desperate day so hopeless but that He is ready to flood it with the light of His mercy.

WHEN DESPERATE PEOPLE RECOGNIZED JESUS AS THE SON OF DAVID, THEY RECEIVED HIS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION.
He is the same yesterday, and today, and forever Hebrews 13:8

DAY 1—Two blind men found sight by crying for mercy from Jesus, the Son of David.
Mt 9:27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed Him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. Ps 31:9 Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.
· LORD, I have no hope outside of Your mercy. These walls have pressed in upon me till I feel they will crush me. Oh, visit me with Your light and peace! Let Your Spirit overcome my weak spirit. Open my eyes to behold You and to see Your glory.
See the response of Jesus to the cry of the blind men for mercy—Mt 9:27-31

DAY 2—A demeaned woman found mercy for her child from the Son of David.
Mt 15:22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto Hun, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, Thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. Ps 123:3 Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.
· LORD, I feel as though I am nothing. Life has pushed me down to make me feel like dirt that people trample on. But I am beginning to see You love me. I believe You are ready to visit me. Oh, DEAR LORD! My family needs Your mercy. Come visit us!
See the response of Jesus to the cry for mercy of the despised Canaanite woman—Mt 15:22-28

DAY 3—Two blind me, rebuked by the crowd, cried out for the attention of the Son of David.
Mt 20:30,31 And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us O Thou Son of David. And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O LORD, Thou Son of David. Ps 9:13a Have mercy upon me, O LORD, consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me...
· LORD, I receive no encouragement from anyone around me. They mock me and say I am a fool. But I believe You are releasing something in me that is drawing me on. It is Your mercy! O, Thou Son of David. Please heal me now! You are my hope.
See what happened when two blind men persisted in their cry to the Son of David—Mt 20:30-34

DAY 4—Hear the cry of blind Bartimaeus to the Son of David.
Mk 10:46 And they came to Jericho: and as He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
· JESUS, SON OF DAVID, have mercy on me! I feel like that blind man sitting by the highway begging. I feel like a lowly creature. This sickness has robbed me of self-esteem. But today, I am ready to leave this behind me. I am ready to embrace the power and grace released in Your Covenant of mercy.
Take note how Jesus, the Son of David, responded to the cry of blind Bartimaeus—Mk 10:46-52

DAY 5—Hear the cry of another certain blind man.
Lk 18:35b-38 . . . a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: and hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. And he cried, saying, Jesus, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. Ps 30:10 Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be Thou my helper.
· O LORD, my cry continues as I see just how great Your mercy is. Have mercy upon me, O, SON OF DAVID! Let Your mercy flood my soul. Let it move through me to touch others in their pain and heartache. Here are these I know who are suffering.
Faith can reach through discouragement to touch Jesus, the Son of David—Lk 18:35-43

DAY 6—A man bent crooked with sin, like David, found mercy from the Lord.
Lk 18:13,14a And the publican, standing afar off would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified...Ps 51:1 (David) Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of Thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
· O LORD, I am one of those persons who deserves no mercy, But, oh, how I need it! I can see today Your lovingkindness is greater than my sin. I cry to You for mercy. Make me into a new person—even a Covenant person in Your Kingdom.
Those who forsake their sin can find God’s mercy—Pro 28:13; Is 55:7

DAY 7—Like David, we, too, can find deliverance through God’s Covenant of mercy.
Ps 6:4,9,10 Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for Thy mercies’ sake. ... The LORD hath heard my supplication: the LORD will receive my prayer. Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.
· LORD—oh, I’m so glad I can call You LORD! How suddenly my life is changing! I am discovering Your mercy and the faithfulness of Your Covenant! The things that were against me don’t matter any more.
We can find God’s help in a hopeless situation as we pray and ask others to pray—II Cor 1:8-11

WHY IS DAVID SO IMPORTANT? BECAUSE GOD MADE A COVENANT WITH HIM THAT EMBRACED HIS ETERNAL KINGDOM. It embraces us also to draw us into its glory.

DAY 8—The first Covenant Promise to David gave God’s people a safe inheritance.
II Sam 7:10 Moreover, I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more: neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime. Isa 61:1-3 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me 1to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me 2to bind up the brokenhearted, 3to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 4to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; 5to comfort all that mourn; 6to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, 7to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
· Oh FATHER! Help me see this. No inheritance could be so full of wonder as the inheritance that becomes ours in Christ. Oh, let me know this appointed place! Let me know the anointing that is making it real in us. Let these people I now name before You come to know who we are and what is ours in Christ. Some have no hope outside of this.
In Christ we obtain our inheritance—Eph 1:3-10

DAY 9—This Promise to David meant Christ would build a Tabernacle for him.
II Sam 7:llb . . .Also 2the LORD telleth thee that He will make thee an house. Isa 16:5 And in mercy shall the throne be established: and He shall sit upon it in truth in the Tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.
· LORD, the Tabernacle of David has been a mystery to me. Show me. Is it the House in which Christ shall reign to bring righteousness in the earth? Oh, bring holiness, and peace, and right understanding to us who make up this House. Reign, Lord, reign!
The elders in Jerusalem saw the Tabernacle of David was being raised up among the Gentile nations. Do we not know it as the Church?—Ac 15:14-17;Am 9:11,12

DAY 10—This Promise to David meant the Son of David would be raised from the dead.
II Sam 7:12b . . . 3I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels... Ps 132:11 The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; He will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne. Ac 13:22,23 ... He raised up unto them David to be their king: to whom also He gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will. Of this man‘s seed hath God according to His promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus.
· FATHER, the longing of my heart is to know the Seed of David Whom You raised from the dead. I want to know His indwelling life. I want to know the power and grace of His Kingdom. Oh, I want to know Him dwelling in me!
See this Word Peter brought on Pentecost with regard to the Resurrection of Christ—Ac 2:29-33

DAY 11—This Promise to David meant God would establish a Kingdom for His holy Seed.
II Sam 7:12c ... 4I will establish His Kingdom. Dan 7:14 And there was given Him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve Him: His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
· DEAR LORD, it is also the longing of my heart to know Your Kingdom. Teach me what it means to repent so I can embrace it in my heart. Please make me into a person who understands Your Kingdom, who lives according to its ways, who walks in its glory, and who makes known its ways unto others.
Jesus has taught us to pray God’s Kingdom will become known in the earth—Mt 6:9-13

DAY 12—This Promise meant Christ would build the Temple David longed for.
II Sam 7:13a ... 5He shall build an house for My Name... Heb 3:5,6 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after: but Christ as a Son over His Own House; Whose House are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end...
· LORD, let me know the wonder of the Temple You are building. Show me its worldwide wonder. Let me know its wonder with others here where I live. Let me know You have redeemed us that our own bodies can be a holy dwelling places for You.
We are called to keep God’s dwelling holy for Him—I Cor 3:16,17; I Cor 6:19; II Cor 6:16; Eph 2:21

DAY 13—This Promise meant God would establish an eternal Kingdom for Christ.
II Sam 7:13b … and 61 will stablish the throne of His Kingdom for ever. II Pet 1:10,11 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into The Everlasting Kingdom of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
· DEAR LORD, if Your Kingdom is eternal, then it has power for today. I can know it today, right where I am. Oh, let Thy Kingdom come! Let me see its light and its glory in this present darkness. Let its rightness come forth in me.
We are called to walk worthy of this Kingdom—I Thes 2:12; II Thes 1:5; II Tim 4:18; Heb 12:28; Jas 2:5

DAY 14—This Promise meant God would be the Father of David’s greater Son.
II Sam 7:14a 7I will be His Father, and He shall be My Son... Lk 9:35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is My beloved Son: hear Him.
· FATHER, give me a heart to hear Your Son. And not only to hear Him, but to give heed to what I hear. Let me hear Him through Your word, through the ministers You have appointed, by the Holy Spirit You have given us. Help me remember what I hear.
See the desire of the Psalmist with regard to God’s Word—Ps 119: 9,11,16,17,25,28,38,41,42,49,50

DAY 15—This Promise meant David’s greater Son would be our Redeemer.
II Sam 7:14b 81f he commit iniquity ("In His bearing the consequence of iniquity," or "in His paying the penalty for iniquity"), I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men... Is 3:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him: and with His stripes we are healed.
· DEAR LORD, I see my healing is complete! You have taken my transgressions and were pierced for them. You were crushed with my sin. You were beaten to win my peace. Your wounds were for my healing. I love You and I trust You with my all.
New Covenant men saw this Word applied to Christ’s healing power—Mt 8:16,17; I Pet 2:21-25

DAY 16—This Promise meant mercy would always attend the Son of David’s reign.
II Sam 7:15a ... 9My mercy shall not depart away from Him... Ps 89:28 My mercy will I keep for Him for evermore, and My Covenant shall stand fast with him. I Pet 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope ("a hope full of life", a life full of hope) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
· FATHER, the most amazing thing to me about Your Kingdom is Your mercy. Oh, receive me in it! Let me bathe in it. Let it wash me today from all the doubt, fear, lack of understanding, and sickness that has been like a plague upon me, and my family.
His mercy endures forever—Ps 89:1-4

THE GREAT PROPHETIC WORD FROM ISAIAH ABOUT CHRIST’S REDEMPTION, BUILT ON GOD’S COVENANT WITH DAVID. BRINGS ITS HEALING TO US WHO WILL EMBRACE IT. It points both to the forgiveness of our sins and the healing of our beings.

DAY 17—The Covenant Word is clear that Christ has taken grief and sorrow, our pain and diseases.
Isa 53:3,4 He is despised and rejected of men: a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from Him: He was despised, and we esteemed Him not. Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
· FATHER, I’m beginning to see that You will not turn from Your Word. It is more powerful than all the things that have risen against me. Please increase in me the desire to know it more, to love it more, to hold it in my memory. Let me know its life-giving power.
See these healing Covenant Words from David—Ps 103:1-18

DAY 18—The Covenant makes it clear that every dimension of sin is dealt with in the Redemption.
Isa 53:5,12b But He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him: and with His stripes we are healed .... and He was numbered with the transgressors: and He bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
· FATHER, I am ready to be done with all this halfhearted commitment to You and Your Kingdom. My sinful nature keeps rearing its head. The little—and sometimes big—things I think, say and do that are wrong in Your sight grieve me. I know they grieve Your Spirit. Oh, bring me into Covenant relationship that will deal with this. I want to be pure for You.
Nothing is so straightforward with regard to dealing with sin as Paul’s word in Rom 6:1-16.

DAY 19—From the beginning, all mankind has been included in the grace of God’s Covenants.
Isa 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray: we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Ps 72:17 His Name shall endure for ever: His Name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in Him: all nations shall call Him blessed.
· FATHER, help me regard every man, woman, boy and girl that I see as objects of Your amazing love. Help me consider that You want to love them through me. Make me a Covenant Person for You and Your Kingdom toward all persons.
Paul gave an amazing display of the sinfulness of us all in Rom 3:9-18. He gave an amazing answer for us all in Rom 5:8.

DAY 20—The wonder of God’s Covenant love is that it pleased Him to give His Son in atonement.
Isa 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him: He hath put Him to grief: when thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin. He shall see His Seed. He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand.
· FATHER, help me regard every man, woman, boy and girl that I see as objects of Your amazing love. Help me consider that You want to love them through me. Make me a Covenant Person for You and Your Kingdom toward all persons.
Our reconciliation through Christ will bring us all together in One to be a holy Temple unto the Lord—Eph 2:14-22

DAY 21—God shall be satisfied and we shall be satisfied when we know ourselves in Him and He knows Himself in us.
Isa 53:11 He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied: by His knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many: for He shall bear their iniquities. Ps 17:15 As for me, I will behold Thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with Thy likeness.
· LORD, I want Your soul to be satisfied in me, and these I bring. I will find my satisfaction when I awake with Your likeness. Draw us on.
God has given us all things that pertain unto our salvation, our deliverance, our glory—II Pet 1:2-7
