Matthew 6:33—But seek ye first the Kingdom of God (make the Kingdom of God the sole object of your search), and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
(MSG) 30-33 "If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don't you think he'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God's giving. People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.
I Peter 4:12,13—Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
(MSG)12-13 Friends, when life gets really difficult, don't jump to the conclusion that God isn't on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner.
DEAR LORD, teach me how to rejoice in the sufferings that are coming in upon us because of our faith. Please give us the grace to stand tall in our convictions, yet with the evidence of a love that is never out of pretense. Oh, I praise You for the abundance of Love You are pouring out on us as we stand faithful!
The trial of our faith can bring a rich reward.—I Peter 1:3-9
