OCTOBER 2008 Day 10
next>

That is why we keep on talking to God about you since the day we heard about you. We ask him that you may know everything he wants you to do. We ask him that you may be very wise and that the Spirit will help you to understand.
We ask him that you will live the way the Lord wants you to live, so that you will please him in everything you do. We ask that you will do everything that is good. We ask that you will see the fruit from what you do. We ask that you will know more and more about God. God has wonderful power. And we ask him to give you all the strength you need to go through all your troubles, to be very patient in them, and to be happy. Thank the Father who has made us ready to be with the people of God who live in his light.

DAY 10—The Kingdom becomes the sole object of our search.

We are being prepared to live according to the prophetic Word of Daniel 11:32. And such as do wickedly against the Covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. (The king of the north will play up to those who betray the holy covenant, corrupting them even further with his seductive talk, but those who stay courageously loyal to their God will take a strong stand.) (MSG

Oh, yes, there will be those who fall from the Faith, but let us not be among that company! The tests we are continuing to face are working a strength into our spirits that will draw us into the company of those who will overcome even in the tests the anti-Christ himself imposes upon us.

Matthew 6:33—But seek ye first the Kingdom of God (make the Kingdom of God the sole object of your search), and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
(MSG) 30-33 "If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don't you think he'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God's giving. People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

I Peter 4:12,13Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
(MSG)12-13
Friends, when life gets really difficult, don't jump to the conclusion that God isn't on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner.

DEAR LORD, teach me how to rejoice in the sufferings that are coming in upon us because of our faith. Please give us the grace to stand tall in our convictions, yet with the evidence of a love that is never out of pretense. Oh, I praise You for the abundance of Love You are pouring out on us as we stand faithful!

The trial of our faith can bring a rich reward.—I Peter 1:3-9
