OCTOBER 2008 Day 9

That is why we keep on talking to God about you since the day we heard about you. We ask him that you may know everything he wants you to do. We ask him that you may be very wise and that the Spirit will help you to understand.
We ask him that you will live the way the Lord wants you to live, so that you will please him in everything you do. We ask that you will do everything that is good. We ask that you will see the fruit from what you do. We ask that you will know more and more about God. God has wonderful power. And we ask him to give you all the strength you need to go through all your troubles, to be very patient in them, and to be happy. Thank the Father who has made us ready to be with the people of God who live in his light.

DAY 9—Let’s put the Kingdom of Heaven first.

Jesus taught His disciples to put the Kingdom of Heaven first. Then, all else would fall into place. The Psalmist David learned this principle of Truth and sang of it. Below are some of the words to one of his songs.

Psalm 37:3—Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. (“You shall feed on His faithfulness.”)
(MSG) 3-4 Get insurance with God and do a good deed, settle down and stick to your last. Keep company with God, get in on the best.

Matthew 6:25,26Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
(WE) `So, I tell you this. Do not be troubled about what you will eat or drink to keep alive. Do not be troubled about what you will wear on your body. Life itself is worth more than food, and the body is worth more than clothes.  Look at the birds that fly in the air. They do not plant or cut or keep any food. Yet your Father in heaven feeds them. Are you not worth more than birds?’

DEAR LORD, our whole desire is beginning to turn toward Your Kingdom. As we look to You, make us into mature sons and daughters in Your Kingdom. Teach us how to be givers of its wealth to others.

We are learning to put away anxiety, to live honorably and to give abundantly.
—Matt 6:24-34
