OCTOBER 2008 Day 13
next>

That is why we keep on talking to God about you since the day we heard about you. We ask him that you may know everything he wants you to do. We ask him that you may be very wise and that the Spirit will help you to understand.
We ask him that you will live the way the Lord wants you to live, so that you will please him in everything you do. We ask that you will do everything that is good. We ask that you will see the fruit from what you do. We ask that you will know more and more about God. God has wonderful power. And we ask him to give you all the strength you need to go through all your troubles, to be very patient in them, and to be happy. Thank the Father who has made us ready to be with the people of God who live in his light.

Colossians 1:9-12

DAY 13—Forgiveness prepares us for mercy.

There is now this Word that proved faithful to the Lord Jesus as He was tested. God’s Word abides. It is a faithful Word for us who are facing the tribulation of the final days. There is nothing, absolutely nothing that is more powerful than His Word to those who will believe it.

Psalm 33:18-22—Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy; to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waiteth for the LORD: He is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
(MSG)
18-22 Watch this: God's eye is on those who respect him, the ones who are looking for his love. He's ready to come to their rescue in bad times; in lean times he keeps body and soul together. We're depending on God; he's everything we need. What's more, our hearts brim with joy since we've taken for our own His holy name. Love us, God, with all you've got—that's what we're depending on.

LOVING FATHER, as hard times come upon us, train us to keep our hearts fixed on You. Help us learn by the troubles we now have that You are faithful in the smallest. Your faithfulness reaches even the greatest difficulties. Teach us to always look out for our neighbors and to give, not expecting anything in return. Teach us that when we care for others, You will care for us.

God will shower all kinds of blessings, if we learn to be givers.—II Corinthians 9:6-8
