DAILY DEVOTIONS

T
he prayer for this about the living of a life that is pleasing to the Lord, all the while growing in our knowledge of Him.  It follows what we learned to pray last month.

Colossians 1:10—THAT ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

In the high understanding given Paul of Kingdom mysteries, he always came around to how we live among others. He frequently called this outward expression of faith our walk. This month's prayer calls for our walk to become worthy of the Lord.  The way we live before others reflects our relationship with Him and determines whether we bring honor to Him. Worthy is from the Greek word, áxios, a word of honor.  It means to have nothing in one's conduct or character that will bring dishonor to the Name of the Lord.

DEAR FATHER, let me never come to the end of my praises for all You have done, and for all You are doing, and for all I believe You are yet to do in behalf of these people I bring before You. They have no hope unless the power of Your Kingdom is released in their lives. Bring forth in them the clear knowledge of what you want to do in them.
Send Your Spirit to renew their minds so they can understand the out-workings of your will. Give them the wisdom to relate properly to their families, their business, and their responsibility to others as they walk in Your will.

Oh, LORD, I stand in awe of You and Your Kingdom's power.
Let Your Kingdom come!
...In the Name of Christ Jesus,

The words of Colossians are so powerful and convicting that they could hold our attention for many weeks through many volumes. My suggestion is that you never lay these two chapters aside with any idea that you have laid hold on all they have to say to you. I've found that as I grow, the Word of God grows.

Whatever I might see today, and wherever the Word might reach within me, it can still reach deeper and I can see more in its light and truth. I've found this to be so as I've gone over these two chapters of Colossians. They are Scriptures I've looked at for years. I've always found them powerful and full of inspiration. Yet, I feel they have just begun to burst open before the eyes of my heart.

INTERESTING NOTE :

In the Hebrew, Psalm 150 has thirteen "praise's." I wondered at this because thirteen is the number representing what is evil. Then, I saw it! This last Psalm is a final celebration of triumph over all the work of evil. Even the number thirteen, from the beginning associated with the serpent, loses its association because that old serpent, the devil, loses all of his power in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. Some of you might remember that we used to sing this Psalm. Oh, what power it holds!

Psalm 150

1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
